STERILIZATION - MICROWAVE PROCESS

LoadingShredding / MicrowaveHeating / SterilizationCooling and DrainingUnloading
At the beginning of the cycle, once the upper lid opens automatically, the operator fills the waste in the loading chamber. As the upper lid closes and shredding starts. Once shredding of the medical waste in the upper chamber is completed, the intermittent vacuum process starts automatically.

The shredder, controlled by the PLC unit, changes rotation direction due to the “anti-blocking” capability that prevents the blades to get jammed. Our special design shredder is capable of grinding very hard materials that can be found in medical waste.

Sterilization is achieved by injecting saturated steam until the homogeneous temperature in the upper and lower chamber reaches 134°C - 148°C (Programmable by the user). Sterilization of the waste and all inner parts of the sterilizer including the shredder is completed by maintaining 134°C - 148°C temperature and equivalent pressure for a period of 10 – 20 minutes (Programmable by the user). These factors provide the possibility to decrease the pathogenic contamination level in the medical waste by 8 Log 10 values. The operating conditions are continuously monitored and validated to achieve complete sterilization

The temperature in the sterilizer is lowered by praying cool water into double jacket of the treatment vessel. The condensed water, which is sterile and can be safely discharged into the sewage system and the remaining residual steam is vented out through the vacuum pump.

After all safe operating conditions have been met, then a digital sign informs the operator to press the command button so the sterilized lower door will open in order to facilitate the unloading of the sterilized waste. The treated waste is unloaded by the operator in a closed container provided with every sterilizer. Once the unloading procedure is completed the lower door closes and the sterilizer automatically starts the next cycle.
